Spring Training Facilities in the West Valley
Spring training facilities in the west valley are a main attraction in Phoenix during the months of February and March. Major League Baseball teams host a series of practices and exhibition games preceding the start of the regular season. Spring training allows new players to try out for roster and position spots, and gives established players practice time prior to the start of the season. Surprise Stadium hosts the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers. The stadium was built in 2002 and has the capacity to hold 10,714 attendees. The 2022 schedule features games every day from February 26 through March 26, with a doubleheader on February 28. During Spring Training, more than 4,000 people visit Surprise Stadium each day. The stadium also puts on a fireworks show every Fourth of July, which draws thousands of people every year.
Peoria Sports Complex
Peoria Sports Complex is the oldest ballpark in the West Valley. The stadium was built in 1994 and holds a capacity of 12,882 attendees. Peoria Sports Complex is the home of the Seattle Mariners and San Diego Padres.The best part about the Peoria Sports Complex is, its tucked away in P83. P83 offers lots of entertainment and food options for before or after the game, too.
The Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds dominate the Goodyear ballpark. Starting in mid-February, which is just in time for Phoenix's beautiful spring weather, Goodyear Ballpark becomes a hub of baseball activity. Spring training season consists of approximately 30 games.
Camelback Ranch Glendale
If you're in the Glendale area make sure to check out the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch. Goodyear Ballpark and Camelback Ranch are the West Valley's two newest ballparks. Parking is FREE at Camelback Ranch-Glendale so make sure you arrive early.
